The Pride of Barbados, or peacock flower, is the national flower of Barbados. It is native to the tropics of the Americas, but grows well in Texas. This particular plant used to live two houses down. When they tore down that house to build two new houses on the same lot, my husband rescued this plant for me. It's doing just fine now in our front yard. It's about to bloom.
