Description
The blooming of the Texas Mountain Laurels is another sign that spring has come to central Texas. These trees grow about ten, fifteen feet tall and grow very slowly. They don't bloom until they're about eight years old. Last year, they didn't bloom at all, because of the snowstorm in mid-February. The flowers are big, purple and showy. I often smell them before I see them, because they smell just like grape soda.
