At about nine o'clock in the morning, the sun was just coming out from behind thin clouds. This is a neighborhood street in central Austin, Texas. It was Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras, the day before the start of Lent. I was struck at the drama of the sun as it broke through the clouds, and how small it made the people in the corner seem.
